If you are an international (especially non-EU) student, you need to prove that you have a   <\/span><b>health coverage valid in Italy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without insurance:<\/span><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you can&#8217;t get a visa<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you cannot apply for a residence permit<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you can&#8217;t renew it<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the duration of the residence permit cannot exceed the duration of health coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health coverage for EU students<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students from a European Union country who have the <\/span><b>European EHIC health card<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">valid, they can directly access the health and medical services they need. To receive health care, they will be able to show their EHIC card and go to a practitioner on the general practitioner (GP) list. In addition, they can go to the    <\/span><b>public or contracted health care facilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Enrollment in the National Health Service (NHS).<\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you decide to enroll in the SSN, you will have to pay a <\/span><b>contribution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> annual flat rate of minimum <\/span><b>700\u20ac<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, not fractionable. Thus, the cost increased from 149\u20ac to 700\u20ac. In this category are.   <\/span><b>including international students<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  and generally those who hold study permits.
