Introduction
The series of institutional meetings promoted by Welcome Association Italy as a follow-up activity to the International Conference “Women and Diplomacy: Voices from the World” continues .
After appointments at various diplomatic representations, an institutional meeting was held today, February 5, at theEmbassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Italy, in the presence of H.E. Nita Shala, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo.
The meeting was a moment of direct, intergenerational dialogue between diplomatic institutions and university students, strengthening the link between academic education, diplomacy and civic participation.
H.E. Nita Shala’s contribution: diplomacy, rights and institution-building
At the Conference “Women and Diplomacy: Voices from the World,” H.E. Nita Shala had already made a particularly outstanding contribution, later collected in the Proceedings of the Conference, emphasizing the central role of women in the processes of institution-building, protection of human rights and consolidation of the rule of law.
In her written statement, the Ambassador highlighted how the Kosovo experience demonstrates the importance of diplomacy based on:
- institutional responsibility,
- multilateral dialogue,
- Enhancement of women’s skills in decision-making roles.
This vision was also echoed during today’s meeting, offering students a concrete perspective on how diplomacy can be not just formal representation, but an active tool for mediation, listening and international cooperation.
Dialogue with students: an open and participatory discussion
The meeting was attended by a delegation of 15 students from LUISS Guido Carli University and Sapienza University of Rome, belonging to various student associations engaged in the field of international relations and diplomacy:
- LUISS Women in International Affairs
- Students Diplomatic Association (LUSDA)

During the discussion, students had the opportunity to ask questions and share reflections on:

The dialogue took place in an atmosphere of great openness, willingness and attention, confirming the importance of creating direct meeting spaces between young people and diplomatic representations.
Carlo Palumbo’s statement
On the sidelines of the meeting, Carlo Palumbo, Deputy National Secretary of Welcome Association Italy, said:
