Welcome Association Italy to the meeting with Dušan Kozarev sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia and SIOI
Rome, May 26, 2026 – Welcome Association Italy participated, at the invitation of theEmbassy of the Republic of Serbia in Rome, in the institutional meeting “A Conversation with Dušan Kozarev,” Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, organized at the SIOI – Italian Society for International Organization, in the headquarters of Piazza di San Marco in Rome.
The initiative provided an important opportunity to discuss the role of Serbia in the international scenario, the prospects for diplomatic dialogue and the strengthening of relations between Italy and Serbia, two countries linked by significant historical, cultural, economic and institutional relations.
The presence of Dušan Kozarev, a leading figure in Serbian diplomacy and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, provided participants with an opportunity to directly explore the Serbian institutional view on key international and regional dynamics, with a focus on the value of dialogue, cooperation and stability.
Opening the proceedings was Riccardo Sessa, former Italian Ambassador to Belgrade, whose diplomatic experience helped frame the relationship between Italy and Serbia in a historical and strategic perspective. The moderation was entrusted to Giulio Pecora, a journalist and member of the SIOI Board, who led the discussion by encouraging a broad and topical reflection on the topics discussed.
The meeting took place in a particularly qualified context, that of the SIOI, a reference reality in the Italian panorama for discussion on the issues of international relations, diplomacy and cooperation between institutions. The collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Rome gave the initiative an additional value, confirming the importance of promoting opportunities for direct dialogue between institutional representatives, academia, civil society and realities engaged in building positive international relations.
For Welcome Association Italy, participation in the event is part of a growing focus on dialogue with diplomatic representations and foreign communities present in Italy. In fact, the Association considers institutional confrontation an essential tool to foster welcome, integration, international mobility and collaboration between territories.
In this perspective, the meeting with representatives of the Republic of Serbia was a moment of particular interest, not only for the diplomatic profile of the initiative, but also for the human and cultural value of the relationship between the two countries. Italy and Serbia share a space of relations made up of exchanges, presence of communities, educational, professional and institutional paths that make it increasingly important to build stable and concrete bridges.
