Meeting at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia: dialogue with academia

A meeting was held today at theEmbassy of the Republic of Serbia in Italy, which was attended by a delegation of university students accompanied by Welcome Association Italy.

The meeting is part of the cycle of appointments promoted by Welcome Association Italy with Diplomatic Representations, with the aim of strengthening the dialogue between the university world and diplomacy, enhancing the role of young people as active players in society and international relations of tomorrow.

The meeting was attended by students from university associations active at LUISS Guido Carli and Sapienza University of Rome, including:

  • International Networking Association (LUISS)
  • European Youth Network (LUISS)
  • Students Diplomatic Association – LUSDA (LUISS)
  • International Relations, Innovation and Sustainability (Sapienza University of Rome)

The discussion was led by H.E. Mirjana Jeremić, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, who warmly welcomed the dialogue with the students, devoting ample space to listening to their questions and reflections. During the meeting, the Ambassador emphasized that young people represent a fundamental resource and the future of international relations, highlighting the importance of investing in education, intellectual curiosity and the ability to understand different cultural contexts.

Ample space was reserved for direct discussion with students, who were able to explore issues related to international relations, career paths and the functioning of diplomatic offices. The dialogue developed in an open and constructive atmosphere, fostering an authentic exchange between generations and highlighting the value of listening to each other.

The level of preparation and active involvement of the young participants was particularly appreciated, contributing to making the meeting a moment of high educational value. At the same time, the helpfulness and attention shown by the Ambassador and Embassy staff confirmed the importance of initiatives that bring new generations closer to diplomatic institutions.

The meeting concluded with the handing over of the hard copy of the Proceedings of the Conference “Women and Diplomacy: Voices from the World,” as a sign of continuity of the dialogue initiated between universities, students and Diplomatic Representations.

“We strongly believe that dialogue with young people is an investment in the future. The willingness shown by the Ambassador and the Embassy to engage with students is a concrete example of caring for the new generations and their path of growth,” said Carlo Palumbo, Welcome Association Italy.
