Welcome Association Italy had the pleasure of participating in the cultural evening hosted at theEmbassy of the Republic of Serbia in Rome, an event that combined music, art and intercultural dialogue in an atmosphere of genuine openness, participation and cordiality.

The initiative represented not only a high-level artistic moment, but also a significant opportunity for institutions, communities and civil society to meet, confirming the value of culture as a shared language and tool for dialogue between countries.

Culture as a space for meeting and dialogue

The evening opened with a musical moment of deep symbolic value through the performance of theHymn of St. Sava, a central figure in Serbian cultural and spiritual tradition. A call that emphasized the deep connection between history, identity and contemporary dimensions, creating from the very beginning an atmosphere of recollection and participation.

The concert featured a performance by soprano Dragana Moles, accompanied by Kristina Milovanović on piano, Marija Rašić on guitar and Enrico Caruso on handpan. The musical program proposed a path capable of crossing tradition and experimentation, offering the audience an intense and engaging experience, appreciated for its refinement and interpretative sensitivity.

Art, tradition and hospitality

Alongside the musical moment, the evening was enriched by two art exhibitions dedicated to iconography and crafts inspired by the Serbian medieval tradition. The exhibited works contributed to the creation of a lively and dynamic space, fostering informal dialogue among the participants and enhancing cultural heritage as an element of mutual encounter and knowledge.

The atmosphere that accompanied the entire event was characterized by great friendliness, liveliness and a sense of welcome, elements that made the evening not only a cultural event, but also a human experience of exchange and relationship.

The value of cultural diplomacy

The presence of Welcome Association Italy is part of the Association’s broader commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy as a tool for international dialogue and cooperation, with particular attention to the student world and international communities in Italy.

In this context, initiatives such as the one hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia take on special value because they help strengthen ties between communities, fostering paths of integration based on knowledge, respect and active participation.

“The evening at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia was a concrete example of how culture can become a universal language capable of bringing people and institutions closer together,” – said Carlo Palumbo, Deputy National Secretary of Welcome Association Italy – “We perceived an atmosphere of sincere welcome and great helpfulness, reflecting the strong bond between the Serbian community and the Italian context. Events of this kind contribute to strengthening intercultural dialogue and a sense of belonging, especially among young people.”

A bond that looks to the future

Participation in the initiative is in continuity with the analysis and observation work carried out by Welcome Association Italy on the performance of the Serbian student presence in Italy, which highlights a young, dynamic community that is increasingly involved in the academic and cultural life of the country. The cultural dimension is thus confirmed as a key element in fostering integration, participation and lasting relationships.

Finally, Welcome Association Italy would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia for the kind invitation and excellent organization of the evening, as well as to Her Excellency Mirjana Jeremić, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Italy, for the cultural sensitivity, attention and warm hospitality shown.
